Owen comes from the people of the Lower Columbia River, Salish Sea, and Southwest Pueblos. He is an enrolled member of the Quinault Indian Nation. He grew up in Seattle where he graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in American Indian Studies and Political Science. Owen has served as a board member for the Center for Native American Youth, ASUW Shell House Fundraising Campaign, and Center for American Indian and Indigenous Studies at UW.
Now, Owen works as the Director of Arts and Culture at Headwater People Consulting, an Indigenous-owned and operated firm in Seattle Washington. He is currently working towards his Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the Institute of American Indian Arts.
